This book has been described by some as the classical mandolinist's bible. It provides background to the two main types of early mandolin - the mandolino and the Neapolitan mandoline. It gives details of musical history and repertoire for the instruments, which includes works by Handel, Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti and Beethoven. A must have for the library!

Here's a link to a sample instructional video by classical mandolinist Caterina Lichtenberg. Nothing beats live tuition, but the full-length DVD is a useful study aid. |
