Giuseppe Pettine (pictured here in 1898 with his Vega mandolin) was a mandolin virtuoso who emigrated with his family from Italy to the U.S. in 1889.
He published a comprehensive 6 volume Mandolin Method, and worked with Vega instruments of Boston to refine mandolin design. He also developed his own line of mandolin picks, which bear his name. As a composer he greatly contributed to the mandolin repertoire, writing original music for solo mandolin and mandolin in combination with other instruments. |
